Cold plunging, or cold water immersion, is partially or totally submerging yourself in cold water for a few minutes at a time. Our commercial plunge tub has the most powerful cooling technology you can find in Tacoma, down to 37 degrees! Cold water immersion has significant health benefits that include reduced inflammation, reduced exercise-induced muscle damage, improved mood & focus, and improved immune function among other proposed benefits.

Emerging evidence suggests regular use of an infrared sauna also has several health benefits, including reduced risk of vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and other neurocognitive diseases as well as nonvascular or pulmonary conditions. Evidence also suggests a benefit for treatment of specific skin conditions as well as pain ratings for conditions such as rheumatic diseases and headaches.

There are also benefits to alternating between hot sauna and cold plunge via Contrast Therapy. Alternating between the two boosts energy, increases circulation, enhances immune function, promotes muscle repair, burns brown fat to support weight loss, and stress reduction via release of endorphins.

Consult with your primary care physician before beginning a new type of therapy including cold plunging or sauna bathing, especially if you have a history of cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

Kaitlin is one of the owners at One to One. She grew up in the Tacoma area where she attended school at Washington State University, earning a degree in Kinesiology. While there she discovered how people, when given the right tools and support, have the capacity to heal within themselves. She took this idea and moved to Philadelphia to get her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2017 from Thomas Jefferson University.

While in Philadelphia she focused much of her time working with patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease which has helped shape the therapist she is today. With a special interest for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, she also found that there is a section of care women are missing before and after having a child. As a new mom herself, Kaitlin has focused much of her time learning how to provide the best care possible to allow new moms to embrace the exciting changes that their bodies are going through as well as facilitate overall health and wellbeing through this time.

Today, she lives near Point Defiance with her husband, Alan, and daughter, Dylan, plus three energetic dogs. While not running around after her daughter, she enjoys visiting local restaurants and breweries around Tacoma and fixing up her new home.

I have been on the One to One team since 2014, graduating from the University of Puget Sound in 2012. As a sports fan myself, I understand the importance of teamwork and all individuals working towards a common goal. Here at One to One, we do just that. I am proud to call this place my home base. When not here, I am attending the Seahawks and Kraken games with my son, Henry. I have lived in Washington all my life and look forward to raising my son here in the great northwest.

I graduated from Seattle Massage School in 1994. Besides taking a few years off after my son was born in 2005, I have been practicing since then. I am certified in pregnancy massage and trigger point therapy, but I especially enjoy deep tissue massage. Previously I have worked in spa settings but am now happy to call One to One my home. My son is now 16 and is my pride and joy. We like to spend out weekends outdoors hiking, biking, or at baseball games. We also share a passion for travel.

I grew up on the gulf coast of Florida and moved to the Midwest for PT school at Washington University in St. Louis where I met my beautiful wife, Chelsea, who is from Tacoma. We moved back to the PNW after graduating and I was lucky enough to be able to join the team here at One to One in 2020. I love working with all of the motivated patients that walk through these doors every day and the team here is the best I’ve ever worked with - by far. When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll find me climbing at the local bouldering areas, doting over the two best cats west of the Mississippi, or exploring parks and trails with Chelsea.

I’m an avid rock climber and PNW native. After receiving my doctor of physical therapy degree at the University of Puget Sound, I was thrilled to join the One to One team. My wife and I seek joy in the simplicity of the outdoors – either amongst the granite boulders of the Cascade range, on a paddleboard, or on a steep trail. To be honest, we’re just as likely to be relaxing at home with our 2 boy cats, Paul and Zuko. Enjoying a locally brewed espresso or cold beer is another favorite pastime – just collecting as many PNW stereotypes as possible at this point.

Movement is medicine, and bodies are designed to move – well and often. I’m excited to help you work toward that end.

Wynne is one of the owners at One to One. She is a native Midwesterner who relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2009. Tacoma quickly became her home, and she is happy to say she is here to stay. Wynne is constantly inspired by patients’ work ethic, positive attitudes, and life experiences that bring them in the door. She fondly remembers discussing life with her 80 year old patient during one of their sessions. When asked which age was her patient’s favorite, she quickly responded “This one. Why would I want to be anywhere than where I am right now?” Wynne has adopted this as her own motto and strives to make every day the best for herself and her patients. Wynne is passionate about healthy living and strives to motivate others to do the same.

Wynne graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound. Wynne was a student at One to One during PT school, but career opportunities took her out of Washington for a few years before she eventually moved back to her forever home here in Tacoma. Wynne knew One to One was a perfect fit for her because she was instantly drawn to the energetic and encouraging atmosphere that affords people the opportunity to feel inspired to make positive changes in their lives. During her time as a PT, Wynne has treated patients of all ages and conditions with a strong emphasis on functional movement training and patient empowerment.

Outside of One to One, Wynne enjoys spending time exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband, three boys, and two dogs. She is an avid and loyal follower of the Fighting Illini and Green Bay Packers and is quickly becoming a dedicated fan of the Seattle Kraken. Fun fact: Wynne’s yellow lab, Scout, is the clinic dog who is always in need of more belly rubs.
